Data Collection and Storage

Calot is designed with privacy at its core. Your personal health data (age, weight, goals, food logs) is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. We use industry-standard encryption and security measures provided by Apple's iOS platform.

We collect and store the following types of data:

Stored Locally on Your Device (NOT sent to our servers):

• Age and biological sex
• Height, current weight, and target weight
• Activity level and measurement preferences
• Daily calorie and protein goals
• Food log entries with nutritional information
• Weight history and progress data

Important: This data remains on your device and is only accessible by you. If you delete the app or lose your device, this data will be lost. We do not have access to this information.

Sent to Our Servers (temporarily):

• Food entry text only (e.g., "chicken breast 200g") for AI analysis
• This data is processed to provide nutritional information and is automatically deleted after 24 hours

No Account Required: Calot does not require account creation. We do not collect email addresses, usernames, passwords, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information.

Subscription and Payment Data

When you purchase a subscription, payment processing is handled by the App Store. We do not store your payment information. We only maintain necessary subscription status information to validate your access to app features.

Payment data is processed securely through the App Store, and we do not have access to your credit card or payment details.

Calot uses Superwall SDK for subscription and paywall management. Superwall may collect device information, subscription status, and app usage analytics. Please review Superwall's Privacy Policy for more details.

Data Usage

Your food entry text sent to our servers is used to:

• Analyze and provide accurate nutritional information
• Return calorie, protein, carb, fat, and micronutrient data
• Provide source citations for transparency
• Improve AI analysis accuracy over time

All other data (age, weight, goals, food logs) is stored only on your device and never leaves it. You maintain complete control over your data, and you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app.

Third-Party Services

When you submit a food entry for analysis, your text is processed by third-party AI services:

• Perplexity AI - For grounded web search and verified nutritional data lookup
• OpenAI - For parsing and structuring food entry data

These services only receive your food entry text and do not have access to your personal health data (age, weight, goals, etc.) which remains on your device. Data is processed under strict privacy agreements.

Data Sharing

We do not share your personal health data with third parties. Your weight, goals, and food logs remain private on your device.

Only anonymous food entry text is sent to our AI processing partners (Perplexity AI, OpenAI) to provide nutritional analysis. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

• Local encryption for all health data using Apple's SwiftData framework
• HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted to our servers
• Secure PostgreSQL database with regular security updates
• Automatic deletion of food entry text after 24 hours
• Limited access controls for our development team
• Regular security audits and monitoring

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use Calot.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access all your personal data stored on your device
• Delete individual entries or all data by uninstalling the app
• Export your food logs and weight history
• Request deletion of food entry text from our servers
• Opt-out of third-party AI processing (by not using the app)

Since all personal data is stored locally on your device, you maintain complete control. Food entries sent to our API are automatically deleted after 24 hours.

Changes to Privacy Policy

Users will be notified of any changes to this privacy policy via in-app notifications and/or by updating the "Last updated" date on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any updates.
